OCR: PAGE 8 The Listermann Now All- Mash/Sparging System Grain Brewing This System makes all-grain brewing as easy as extract brewing! Grain brewing is one of those things that sounds a lot harder than it is. It's true that there are complicated chemical and organic reactions going on is fun during the mashing process. Books are written on those subjects, filled with formulas and easy! and molecular diagrams - so people think it is difficult! Every day we have brewers tell us that they would like to try grain brewing someday, "But I'm not ready for that yer". The truth is that grain brewing is just as easy as extract brewing - and it can be even more fun. All that is involved is heating water to a certain temperature, combining it with your mixture of grains (there are lots of published recipes), and waiting about 35 minutes. Then, you rinse the grains with hot water and collect the wort in your brewpot. At that point, it is just as if you had combined malt extract and water in your brewpot. You continue the brewing process by boiling, adding hops, cooling, and pitching yeast. You have made your malt extract - with total control over the contents! Dan Listermann has invented this System to simplify the process, and it is great. It includes two containers, tubing, clamps, a rotating brass sparge sprinkler, and a perforated false bottom. A booklet with full instructions is also included. When this new product first arrived, we took one out of stock at the Missouri Home Brewery and fried it. In fact, we made about six batches in a row with it. It is a pleasure to use, and the beer is some of the best we have ever brewed. Using the Listermann System, brewing a 5-gallon batch of all-grain beer takes about 3 hours. Malt extract beer usually takes us about 2 hours. The mashing process is a lot of fun, and we have complete control over what is in the beer. Also, the ingredients cost about half as much as a malt extract batch. The Listermann System is helping a lot of homebrewers discover the fun of all-grain brewing! C-50 LISTERMANN MASH / SPARGING SYSTEM 34.95
